Water Adventures in Indonesia

With water all around Indonesia, some of the most beautiful water in the world it is no wonder that water sports are very popular for both locals and visitors. You can visit any number of beaches to enjoy boating, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, windsurfing, or simply soaking up the sun (not a water sport but close enough). Many times, tourists will charter a boat or join a guided tour to venture into some of the most tropical islands of the Indonesia archipelago.

With these “water safaris”, you will have the chance to discover Indonesia’s underwater world. Just choose a company that specializes in exploration and expedition so you get the most for your money. With this type of trip, you will enjoy incredible beauty and the excitement of seeing untamed and deserted white, sandy beaches that are embraced with blue waters, marine gardens, stunning coral reefs, and schools of colorful, tropical fish.

Scuba diving in Indonesia Some of the best beaches and waters in Indonesia include Christmas Island, just south of Indonesia, and the Bunaken National Park. Christmas Island has long been a favorite destination for a number of reasons. First, this remote island is truly a paradise for nature lovers of all ages. With 63% of the island being National Park, in addition to all that you can do on and in the water, there is also an abundance of flora and fauna, some of the most beautiful you have ever seen.

Whaleshark diving is one of the things you can do while on Christmas Island. Here, you will find the largest member of the shark family living in a magnificent marine environment. As a tourist, you can join other divers from all around the globe as they visit the island between the months of November and April to see these incredible fish.

Sport fishing on Christmas Island is something else that visitors enjoy. Known as an international fishing destination, this island and its waters offer the opportunity to catch a variety of fish and big fish such as Tuna, Wahoo, and Sailfish. All around you are narrow tropical reefs, which makes this island ideal for diving.

Then, for some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the world, you want to head to Bunaken National Park and the Lembeh Straight. This province is extremely peaceful while featuring several five-star resorts for the ultimate in luxury. You will head out in small groups on top quality boats, while enjoying friendly people and guides and an organized trip. Some of the underwater places offer outstanding photography.

Finally, some tourists prefer to charter a fishing boat where they go out on the waters with experienced locals who know the area for the biggest and best fish, again to include Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish, Dogtooth Tuna, and Wahoo. The only thing is that if you plan to sports fish in Indonesia, we highly recommend you book about a year out since this popular sport fills up quickly.
