San Javier International Jazz Festival

Spain is famous around the globe for many things to include its excellent, colorful festivals. One that is worth seeing is the San Javier International Jazz Festival, held each June and July in San Javier. This city in Spain is located near Mar Menor, which is the world’s largest saltwater lake.

The International Jazz Festival is an excellent way to spend time relaxing. After all, you will likely take several tours, spend time on the beach, and now, you want to enjoy some fine entertainment. With a magnificent lineup of outstanding jazz and blues artists, this event is truly something you should not miss. For instance, greats such as Eric Burdon and the Animals, John Pizarelli, Benny Golson, Pat Metheny Group, Mezzoforte, the Fabio Miani Septet, and the Cedar Walton Quintet, among others, will amaze and entertain.

This particular Spain festival is not just for your enjoyment but this year, the festivities are designed as a way of remembering three recently deceased musicians, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Smith, and Ray Charles. The San Javier International Jazz Festival actually got started in 1998 through the dedication and efforts of Alberto Nieto and some local jazz fans. In such a short time, the jazz festival has become one of the most exciting and important cultural events in this region of Spain.

The nice thing about the festival is that in addition to listening to some of the best jazz you have ever heard, you can sit back with a nice drink, some local food, and just chill.
